Kangaroo Flat Linear Park

A concrete shared path follows Bendigo Creek through Kangaroo Flat, and it is the easy local choice when you want a smooth on-lead walk without driving anywhere. Kangaroo Flat Linear Park runs with parts of the Bendigo Creek Trail network.

Lead rules

Dogs stay on lead here. The City of Greater Bendigo treats shared paths and parks as on-lead unless a sign marks an off-lead zone, so keep the lead on unless you see one.

The walk

The path is paved the whole way and easy on paws, with creekside trees, birdlife and back fences for company. Mature trees shade parts of the corridor, but some stretches sit open to the sun.

Bins stand at several access points, though it pays to carry your own bags. Dog water along the path is sparse, so bring a bottle and a bowl.

Most people start from street parking near one of the residential entry points.

Make a day of it

For an off-lead run afterwards, Allingham Reserve Dog Park is fully fenced with separate areas for big and small dogs. Compact Cafe is the local stop for a coffee.

When to go

Walk it early or late in summer, when the open sections heat up. The smooth surface makes it a good pick for older dogs and short daily outings.
