Hugh Bamford Reserve

Hugh Bamford Reserve sits on the clifftop in North Bondi, with ocean views to Bondi, Malabar Headland and the city skyline, and a designated area where dogs can come off lead.

Leads and the off-lead area

Waverley Council allows off-lead play inside the reserve's designated dog area. Outside that zone, dogs must be on lead.

Dogs are not allowed on the sports fields while organised sport is on, and they need to keep clear of the playground.

The walk

Paved paths cross open grass and a grassy amphitheatre, with the sea cliffs facing east. Shade is limited on the field itself.

There are toilets, and bins along the paths and perimeter. Bring water for the dog, as bubblers are not always working, and expect limited parking off Military Road with more on the street.

Make a day of it

Join the Bondi to Maroubra Coastal Walk for a longer outing along the cliffs.

When to go

It is a relaxed alternative to the busy beach below. With little shade on the grass, go early on hot days, and check whether sport is on before heading for the fields.
