Heritage Park Tewantin

Heritage Park in the Noosa Parklands estate at Tewantin gives dogs something rare in a suburban bushland reserve: a signed off-leash exercise area, near the Griffith Avenue entrance. Noosa Shire Council manages the park and its concrete and bitumen paths.

Leads and the off-lead area

Let the dog off only inside the signed area by the Griffith Avenue entrance. Everywhere else on the walk, the lead goes back on.

The walk

The central path links several streets through the estate, passing a billabong, a small boardwalk, open grassy pockets and the bushland edge.

Mature trees and revegetated plantings shade parts of the reserve, but some of the central path is in full sun.

Getting started

Access points with street parking include Parkview Court, Billabong Way, Avron Close and Tinaroo Place. Start from Griffith Avenue if the off-lead area is the goal.

Water taps run along the path from Griffith Avenue up to the picnic shelter, and there are bins in the picnic area.

Go early in summer, before the open stretches heat up. It suits dogs that like a sniff through bushland with a run at the end.
