Rex Jackson Oval Perimeter

The Rex Jackson Oval Perimeter walk circles the sports ground in Rex Jackson Park on Walker Street, Helensburgh. The key rule is simple, you walk the edge and the dog stays off the grass field.

Lead rules

Dogs are welcome on lead on the perimeter paths. Wollongong City Council prohibits dogs on the playing field itself and within 10 metres of children's play areas.

The walk

A lap is roughly 400 to 500 metres on a flat mix of paved path and packed earth. You pass open grass, the local pool, a playground and a line of mature trees.

Parking is on the street beside the oval, and there are bins around the grounds. Bring water for the dog.

Max: Loop the outside edge and give the playground a wide berth. The field is off limits for dogs, even when it looks empty.
