Haslams Creek walking route

Haslams Creek walking route links Lidcombe to Sydney Olympic Park along a creek that ends in regenerated wetlands and mangroves near the Parramatta River. It is level and quieter than the Olympic Park hubs, and dogs are welcome on lead.

Lead rules

Dogs must be on lead on the shared paths and along the wetland and parkland edges. Cumberland City Council looks after the upper, suburban end, and the Sydney Olympic Park Authority manages the wetlands downstream.

The walk

The route uses paved shared paths and boardwalk sections. You move from concrete creek banks and industrial edges to tidal mudflats, mangroves and plenty of birdlife.

Shade comes and goes, with mature trees and mangroves on some stretches and none along the canal banks. Bubblers are few and mostly at the Olympic Park end, so bring water and a bowl.

Getting started

Free street parking is usually available where local streets meet the path. Bins are at the main entry points but thin out along the creek boardwalks.

Make a day of it

For an off-lead run, try the Lidcombe dog off-leash area or Coleman Park Fenced Dog Park in Berala.

The calm, level paths suit older dogs and anxious dogs that prefer fewer people. Go early in summer, before the exposed stretches heat up.
