Greystanes Sportsground Perimeter Path

Greystanes Sports Ground, just across the line from Pemulwuy, has a flat sealed path around its fields that makes an easy on-lead loop. The one thing to plan around is sport, because dogs have to keep their distance from the fields and the playground.

Lead rules

Cumberland City Council allows dogs on a lead in the reserve, but not within 10 metres of active sports fields or play equipment. Dogs also stay off the fields during organised matches.

This is not an off-leash area, so the lead stays on for the whole lap.

The loop

The path is concrete and asphalt, running past open grass fields, a playground and tennis courts, framed by suburban trees. It is flat and continuous, and lighting makes it usable for an evening walk.

Parking is on site and in the surrounding streets off Bolaro Avenue.

Water and shade

There is drinking water at the sportsground, bins around the grounds and public toilets. Shade is patchy, with some mature trees and shade structures, while long parts of the path sit in full sun.

Pair it with

For off-lead time, the Dirrabari Reserve Fenced Dog Park and the Gardenia Parade Park Fenced Dog Park are both fenced and close by.

Go when the fields are empty and the 10-metre rule is easy to keep. Being flat and paved, it suits older dogs and short legs.
