Esplanade Trail

The Esplanade Trail in Pialba is part of the Hervey Bay foreshore shared path, a paved walk beside the calm water of the bay. Dogs walk on lead on the path, and a signed off-lead beach close by opens in the cooler hours.

Leads and the off-lead beach

Fraser Coast Regional Council requires dogs on a lead on the shared path and general foreshore unless signs say otherwise. The Pialba foreshore between Taylor Street and Zephyr Street is off-lead from 3pm to 8am.

The walk

The path is paved concrete and asphalt, with the odd timber boardwalk section. Mature coastal trees and park pockets shade parts of it, but some stretches right beside the beach are fully exposed.

Bubblers and taps are dotted through the foreshore parks, and bins are regular along the Esplanade and at beach access points. There is plenty of parking off the Esplanade near the beach accesses.

Make a day of it

When to go

Time it for early morning or late afternoon. That way an on-lead stroll can finish with off-lead play on the beach before 8am or after 3pm.
