Dumaresq Reserve

Dumaresq Reserve is a small grassy patch on Sydney Harbour with its own tidal beach. Its timed off-lead window, early and late in the day, is what brings local dog walkers back.

When dogs can run

Woollahra Municipal Council allows dogs off leash here from 3.30pm until 10.30am. In the middle of the day, between 10.30am and 3.30pm, they must be on a lead.

The reserve

You get a mostly open lawn and harbour views, with a strip of sand that is uncovered at low tide. That is the moment for a paddle in calm water.

Shade is limited and there is little in the way of bins or dog water in such a small space. Bring your own water and bags.

The reserve joins the wider Rose Bay foreshore, where dogs can run off lead at all hours, so a longer walk is easy.

You will find it at 54 Dumaresq Road. Parking is limited to the street outside.

Pair it with

Head into Rose Bay for a coffee at Collins Lane Cafe.

Come before 10.30am or after 3.30pm, and check the tide if your dog wants to swim. It suits a quiet morning routine more than a big day out.
