David Taylor Park Loop

In Werris Creek, David Taylor Park doubles as sports ground and freedom camping area, and its northern end is a council-designated off-lead space for dogs.

Leads and the off-lead area

Liverpool Plains Shire Council allows dogs off lead at the northern end of the park. Keep them off the main sporting fields, at least 10 metres from buildings and play equipment, and out of the area when organised sport or community events are on.

Elsewhere in the park, dogs walk on lead.

The walk

The loop is an easy, flat circuit on grass and natural ground past open lawns, mature trees and sports facilities. It is a relaxed stretch rather than a long hike.

Getting started

Head to 1 Werriston Road, where there is on-site parking including accessible spaces. Toilets, showers, bins and shaded picnic tables serve the camping area, but bring water and a bowl for the dog.

Make a day of it

Stop in at Tammy's in town for a bite afterwards.

When to go

Travellers passing through with a dog will find it an easy leg stretch with facilities on hand. Check for events on the fields before you unclip.
