Lake Coogee Foreshore

Lake Coogee is a wetland loop in Cockburn's southern suburbs, sitting in Coogee near Munster. Birdwatchers and dog walkers share a flat path with steady views over the water.

Lead rules

The City of Cockburn requires dogs on a lead around the lake, as in its other natural areas and reserves. Off-lead play is only allowed in signposted dog exercise parks.

The walk

The loop mixes paved and concrete sections with dirt and sandy paths, plus a short stretch along a quiet local road. Along the way you pass the historic Pensioner Guards' Well.

The terrain is flat, which makes it a fair choice for senior or recovering dogs.

Water and shade

There are no dedicated dog drinking points on the foreshore trail, so carry water. Bins sit near the main access points.

Paperbarks, tuarts and coastal shrubs give some shade, but the open lakeside sections are in full sun. Roadside parking is available near the entry points.

When to go

Early morning or evening suits both the dogs and the birdlife, and avoids the midday sun on the exposed lakeside.
