Chuditch Walk Trail

Chuditch Walk Trail runs about 7 kilometres each way between the Nanga Brook and Chuditch campgrounds in Lane Poole Reserve, near Dwellingup. It is the long option here, through tall jarrah and marri forest beside sections of the Murray River, and dogs must stay on lead.

Lead rules

The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions allows dogs on a lead and under control at all times. The reserve is baited with 1080 for foxes and feral cats, which is fatal to dogs.

The department advises leaving pets at home, so if yours comes, keep it strictly on the track.

The walk

Much of it follows wide management tracks with gentle gradients, broken by a few narrow or steeper dirt sections. Dense canopy shades most of the route, with grass trees filling the understorey.

Water

There is no drinking water on the trail or at Chuditch Campground. A return trip is roughly 14 kilometres, so carry enough for you and the dog for the full distance.

Max: Seven kilometres out means seven back. Pack water for both legs before you leave the car.

Getting started

Park at Nanga Brook or at the Chuditch and Nanga Mill areas, and pay the reserve entry fee. Bins are at the campgrounds only, so bring bags.

Refuel back in town at Rubie's Place Dwellingup.

Best for fit dogs used to long walks, on a cool day.
