Blue Wren Cafe Dwellingup

The Blue Wren is the busy country cafe at 12-14 McLarty Street in the heart of Dwellingup, the timber town that serves as base camp for Lane Poole Reserve. Dogs on lead are welcome in the enclosed outdoor dining area, which makes it the obvious refuel stop before or after the trails.

The dog setup

Dogs settle in beside you in the sunny, enclosed alfresco area, and the kitchen is known to make puppacinos. Dog bowls are on site, though on a hot Peel region afternoon it pays to carry your own water too.

Pepsi: this is a bike-and-boot crowd cafe, so the alfresco fills with helmets and dogs on busy weekend mornings. Arrive early if your dog needs room to settle.

The vibe

Hearty breakfasts and lunches are the order here: big burgers, bacon and egg rolls, sausage rolls, steak pies and scones, with a wood fire inside through the colder months. The motorcycle crowd uses it as a regular run stop, so it is lively rather than quiet.

Advertised hours run 8am to 3pm daily, though country hours shift seasonally, so check ahead if you are rolling in early. There is ample street parking on McLarty Street and the surrounding blocks, and the town centre is flat and easy for a leashed stroll straight out the door.
