Jacksons Creek Streamside Reserve

Jacksons Creek Streamside Reserve follows the creek near Bulla on Melbourne's north-west fringe, a rough, quiet walk under river red gums with rocky pools along the way. Dogs stay on lead.

Lead rules

It is a Crown land streamside reserve in Hume City, and dogs must be on a lead on its tracks. The rule protects wildlife along the creek, including platypus habitat.

The walk

Tracks are natural dirt, gravel and unsealed management roads, so wear proper shoes. Parts are shaded by the creekside trees, while other stretches are open.

Parking is informal and roadside near the access points, and bins are few, so carry your dog's waste out.

Max: Keep your dog out of the creek pools here. It is wildlife habitat, and the lead rule exists for that reason.

When to go

Cool mornings suit it best, and it rewards calm dogs that like to sniff. Bring water, as there are no taps along the reserve.
