Brickfields Track

Brickfields Track is a one-kilometre stretch of bush track and boardwalk in Bonnet Hill, dropping from Taronga Road and the Channel Highway to meet the Alum Cliffs Track above Kingston Beach. Dogs come too, on lead, through the whole route.

Leads on the track

Kingborough Council keeps dogs on lead here and on the connecting coastal tracks, to protect native plants and wildlife and because the boardwalk is narrow. If your dog needs a run, the council's off-lead exercise area on Tyndall Road is close by.

The walk

Expect a narrow track, timber boardwalk and a few steps. The track passes the remains of an 1840s brickworks tied to a short-lived convict probation station, and the bush canopy keeps most of it shaded.

There is no drinking water, toilet or bin on the track itself, so carry water and bags. Parking at the top is a few informal roadside spots near Taronga Road, while Kingston Beach has more room and the facilities.

Make a day of it

Carry on along the Alum Cliffs Track for a longer coastal walk, then finish at Kingston Dog Beach.

The shade makes it a good summer choice. The steps and narrow boardwalk suit a dog that walks nicely on a short lead.
