Bomaderry Creek Gorge

Bomaderry Creek Gorge cuts through sandstone cliffs, caves and overhangs on the Bomaderry side of Nowra, only minutes from town streets. It sits within Bomaderry Creek Regional Park, and dogs are allowed on lead.

Lead rules

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service manages the regional park. Dogs must be on a lead at all times and kept away from picnic and children's play areas.

The walk

The tracks are natural earth, dirt and rock, with uneven ground and rock crossings over the creek. Remnant rainforest, spotted gum and dry woodland shade most of the way, and the gorge often stays cooler than the suburbs around it.

The longer loop tracks run to about 5.5 kilometres, so there is room for a proper outing.

Getting started

Park at the Bomaderry Creek picnic area off Nerang Road, where you will find toilets and bins. There is no water on the tracks, so carry enough for the dog.

Make a day of it

Back in Nowra, The Tea Club Cafe is an easy stop after the walk.

Summer mornings and late afternoons suit it best. It is better for sure-footed dogs than for older dogs who struggle on rough ground.
