Pet policy
On lead on the shared paths and in Flat Rock Gully; off-lead only in the designated zones and ovals.
Wide sealed paths, a green valley and a sandstone overhang known as Henry Lawson's Cave make Bicentennial Reserve an easy on-lead walk on the Naremburn and Willoughby border. Parts of the wider reserve also have signed off-lead space.
Leads and the off-lead area
Willoughby City Council runs the reserve. Keep dogs on a lead on the shared paths, which you share with bikes, and save off-lead play for the designated zones and ovals.
The paths connect into the Flat Rock Gully bushland, a wildlife protection area where dogs stay on lead.
The walk
Grades are gentle and the paths are wide, so it suits older dogs and owners of any fitness. Mature trees give generous shade on warm days.
Look out for the three-part Indigenous cultural mural by artist Shane Haurama along the way.
Getting started
Park off Small Street or at the Willoughby Leisure Centre. Water bubblers, bins and toilets are near the leisure centre.
Make a day of it
Carry on into Flat Rock Gully for a bushier on-lead track.
Summer afternoons are when the canopy earns its keep, and the flat paths make this a good choice for senior dogs.
