Pet policy
Off-lead inside the signed off-lead section; on lead everywhere else in the park. Policy confirmed with the City of Newcastle.
Nesca Park sits between The Hill and Bar Beach in Newcastle, a palm-lined lawn with a playground and patches of regenerating coastal bush. What brings dog owners here is its large, approved off-leash area.
Leads and the off-leash area
The City of Newcastle manages the park and lists it among its leash-free areas. Inside the signed off-leash section, dogs can run free.
Everywhere else in the park, keep them on a lead.
Getting around
Paved paths circle the playground and amenities. Beyond them the ground turns to grass lawns and natural earth tracks through the bushland.
Max: The off-leash area has edges. Clip back on before you head past the playground.
Make a day of it
Coffee is easy in The Junction, at Talulah or Cafe Ziss.
Who it suits
Dogs who love a run on open grass and a sniff along the bush edges. Bring water for the dog.
