Huon Hill Parklands

Huon Hill Parklands rises at Bandiana on the edge of Albury-Wodonga, and the reward for the climb is a 360-degree view over the Murray and Kiewa floodplains and Lake Hume. Dogs are welcome on a lead.

Lead rules

Dogs must stay on a lead throughout the park to protect local plants and wildlife. The City of Wodonga and Parklands Albury Wodonga look after the area.

The walk

Around 7 kilometres of tracks cover fire trails, management roads and walking paths through rolling bushland. Expect changing gradient rather than a flat suburban loop.

Gullies and tree-lined slopes give patchy shade, but the ridge lines and summit approaches are exposed and get very hot in direct sun.

Max: There is no reliable water on the bush tracks. Carry enough for the whole walk plus a collapsible bowl, and skip the summit on hot afternoons.

Getting started

Car parks sit at the main access points and lookouts. Bins are near the entry, parking and picnic areas rather than out on the tracks.

Refuel afterwards at Daintree Cafe in West Wodonga or La Moka Cafe in Wodonga.

Cool mornings in spring and autumn are ideal. The climbing and sun exposure suit fit, active dogs better than older ones.
