Arthur Forno Park

Arthur Forno Park is a quiet neighbourhood green in Bayview Heights, and what brings dog owners here is the off-leash area at its western end, near the Vista Street entrance.

Leads and the off-lead area

Cairns Regional Council has set the off-leash zone behind the houses on Vista Street, Fiesta Close and Flamenco Close. Everywhere else in the park, dogs stay on lead.

The zone is unfenced, so it works best for dogs with reliable recall.

Getting started

Park on the surrounding streets around Fairview Street and Vista Street. Paved paths run through open grass, and mature trees shade the fenced children's playground.

Carry bags and bring water and a bowl for the dog.

When to go

In the Cairns heat, early morning and evening are the comfortable times, and the tree shade sits around the edges of the park. It suits a short daily off-lead session for local dogs more than a long outing.
