Armstrong Creek Trail

The Armstrong Creek Trail follows the creek through the new Warralily and Armstrong Creek estates south of Geelong, a flat on-lead walk that locals use morning and evening. It is easy on joints, but the planting is young, so shade is thin.

Lead rules

The City of Greater Geelong requires dogs on a leash along footpaths and linear creek trails unless a sign says otherwise. Keep dogs at least 10 metres from playgrounds and barbecue areas.

Some nearby sports ovals allow off-lead dogs when no organised sport is on, so check the signs before unclipping.

The walk

The shared path is flat, mostly sealed with some gravel. Along the creek you pass wetland plantings, waterbirds and public art, including the Bulrush sculpture.

A loop of about 5.3 km is possible, or you can do shorter sections close to home.

Water and shade

Bubblers sit near the playground and barbecue pavilion at Warralily Boulevard Park, which is also where the parking and shelters are. Out on the creek path there is little shade, so carry water and a bowl.

Make a day of it

Grab a coffee at Bean Squeeze Armstrong Crk or 9grams Mt Duneed before or after.

Early mornings and evenings are best in summer, when the open sections heat up. The flat surface suits older dogs and puppies alike.
