BIG4 Tasman Holiday Parks - Bendigo is a family holiday park on the Midland Highway in White Hills, close to the Bendigo Botanic Gardens. Dogs are welcome on select powered sites and in designated pet-friendly cabins, but approval is not automatic, so call ahead before you book.

Bringing a dog

Per BIG4's pet-friendly booking terms, dogs are permitted only on specific powered caravan and camping sites and in cabins marked as pet-friendly, generally outside peak periods. You need to request approval in advance, and the park manager has final say on acceptance at arrival.

Once on site, dogs must stay on a leash no longer than two metres whenever they are outside your van, tent or cabin, and must never be left unattended. Clean up immediately and bag waste for the designated bins. Constant barking can lead to eviction, and the camp kitchen, pool, playgrounds and laundry are all out of bounds for pets, so do not plan to wash pet bedding or bowls on site.

Max: ring the park before you book, not just before you arrive. The two-metre leash rule and the cabin-by-cabin approval process mean a booking made without checking can get messy on arrival day.

The place

The park pitches itself at families: swimming pool, jumping pillow, mini golf, games room and indoor and outdoor playgrounds. Cabins get consistently good marks for cleanliness, and it stays quieter than the highway-side parks closer to central Bendigo.

Location and nearby

The park is at 352 Napier Street (Midland Highway), White Hills, with flat, easy access off the highway that suits caravans and motorhomes. Each site or cabin comes with space for one car; ask reception if you need extra parking.

The Bendigo Botanic Gardens are a short drive for a leashed walk, and White Hills Reserve offers more open space close by. Central Bendigo's dog-friendly cafes and pubs are five to ten minutes away, including Bendigo Tram Cafe and Peggys Cafe, with Omari Bendigo even closer for a meal out.

Who it suits

Families with a caravan, campervan or tent, or anyone happy in a designated pet-friendly cabin on a quieter northern approach to Bendigo. If your dates fall in peak periods, the approval odds drop, so have a backup.

Before you book

Call the park to request dog approval for your specific site or cabin and dates, confirm any pet conditions in writing, and bring your own bowls, bedding and food since none are supplied. Keep the two-metre lead clipped on outside your own site and never leave the dog alone in the cabin.
