Vila Paus

Vila Paus is a small pair of beachfront villas at 504 Esplanade, Urangan, Hervey Bay, directly opposite the off-leash dog beach. It is one of the genuinely dog-welcoming stays on the Fraser Coast rather than a dog-tolerant one: dogs are allowed indoors with you, and the fenced outdoor area and the sand across the road do the rest.

Dogs are welcome inside the villas, not confined to a veranda or garage, and up to two dogs per booking is the usual cap. A small pet fee applies, generally in the order of $15 to $25 per night depending on the booking channel, so confirm the exact figure when you book. The house rules ask that dogs stay off furniture and beds, so bring your dog's own bedding, and extra cleaning charges can apply if pet hair is left behind. The villas have fully fenced outdoor areas and entertaining decks, which gives you a secure space for the dog while you eat outside. Worth knowing

The villas are self-contained with a kitchen, verandah and showers, and reviewers point at the beach access as the standout. The 24/7 off-leash dog beach is literally across the Esplanade, the Urangan Pier and its boat-ramp precinct are minutes away, and the town centre of Hervey Bay is a short drive. It is a small property, so it books out quickly in whale season.

Getting there and parking

The Esplanade runs the full length of Urangan, and the villas sit on the beach side, about ten minutes from the Hervey Bay town centre and the marina. Parking is at the villas.
