Hunter Valley Retreat

Hunter Valley Retreat is a bush-set accommodation property on Sandy Creek Road at Quorrobolong, on the quiet southern fringe of the Hunter Valley wine country. The setting and the vibe

This is a rustic, low-key bush retreat rather than a resort. Guests regularly mention the fire pit, clean rooms and comfy beds, and the bushland around the property is home to kangaroos and wallabies. Bush walking starts more or less at the door, which is the main activity here. Because the grounds are unfenced bush, plan to manage your dog on lead around the accommodation; if your recall is not rock solid, keep the long line on for the walks too.

Getting there

The address is 626 Sandy Creek Road, Quorrobolong, reached off the roads south of Cessnock and the main Pokolbin wine strip, so you are close to the valley's cellar doors without being in the middle of the weekend traffic. Parking is at your door.

Close by with the dogs

Cellar doors in nearby Pokolbin are a short drive, including Tulloch Wines and Audrey Wilkinson on the Ben Ean side of the valley. Check each one's outdoor policy before you settle in, as cellar door rules vary.
