Oakridge Motel Tourist Park is a caravan park and motel on the Warrego Highway at Oakey, west of Toowoomba, with powered and unpowered camp sites, van sites and cabins. Cabins are a different story: the park's booking conditions list pets as generally forbidden in on-site accommodation, but management may permit a dog inside a cabin if it has its own bedding, entirely at their discretion. Where a cabin dog is approved, a $50 deposit applies, refunded if the cabin is left in satisfactory condition.

The park's rules are explicit wherever dogs are not wanted: amenity blocks, the camp kitchen and the BBQ areas are strictly off limits at all times, and acceptance of any dog is at management's discretion, with some dogs able to be refused.

Worth knowing

Dogs must be on a leash and under control for the whole stay, they cannot be left unattended at any time (if you go out, the dog goes with you), and owners are expected to clean up immediately and bin the waste. That unattended rule matters if your itinerary has a full day away from camp, so plan dog-inclusive days or take turns.

Getting there and parking

The park is at 56 Toowoomba Road, Oakey, right on the highway through town, so access is easy for caravans and big rigs coming from either direction. Oakey sits on the Warrego Highway roughly halfway between Toowoomba and Dalby, and the town's service station, pub and shops are all within a few minutes of the gate.

Close by with the dogs

For off-leash time, the Kingsthorpe Dog Park is a short drive back towards Toowoomba, and there is an on-lead walk around the streets of Oakey itself.
