Arthur Shooter Memorial Park

No sign calls it the Oakey Creek Walk, but the paths along Oakey Creek through Arthur Shooter Park on Stanley Street are the walk locals use. They are formed concrete, flat enough to host the town's parkrun.

Lead rules

Toowoomba Regional Council requires dogs to be on lead in Arthur Shooter Park. Off-lead running is limited to designated areas.

The closest is at Cory Street Park, which links to the creek corridor and has an unfenced off-lead area in its central section.

The walk

Expect open grass, creekside vegetation, a playground and exercise equipment along the way. Mature trees give patchy shade.

There are bins and parking around the park and on nearby streets. Water points for dogs are limited, so bring a bottle and a bowl.

Make a day of it

Finish with a coffee at Flick Food & Coffee Bar in town.

When to go

The flat, sealed path suits older dogs and short daily outings. Parkrun brings a crowd on Saturday mornings, so pick another time if runners unsettle your dog.
