A La Folly is a traditional B&B and campground at 41 Doyle Road, Northern Heights, just outside Murray Bridge. The single reason a dog owner books here: your dog can stay inside the self-contained unit with you, and you get complimentary pancakes or crepes delivered to your room.

The place. Old stone buildings, established gardens, and a courtyard give the property a rustic, yesteryear feel. Accommodation is limited to one self-contained unit, The Retreat, plus powered and unpowered camp sites. A tap in the powered camping area provides drinking water.

The pet policy. Dogs are welcome in the courtyard and surrounding gardens, and are generally allowed inside The Retreat. Pets must be kept under control at all times because livestock and horses are nearby. Pet fees are not published and policies can vary, so confirm any fees directly at booking.

Getting there. The entrance is on Doyle Road, on the corner of Doyle and Toora Road. Coming from Murray Bridge, Doyle Road is just before the crest of a hill on the right. Ignore GPS if it directs you onto the unsealed Toora Road. Doyle Road is sealed. Drive slowly, as horses are often exercised along it. On-site parking is available.

Location and nearby. The property sits roughly 10 minutes from Murray Bridge amenities and about 24 minutes (31.7 km) from Mannum. Walking trails and the Murray River and Lakes area are close by. Port Elliot and Victor Harbor are manageable for day trips. For a coffee run further afield, Melo Cafe in Windsor Gardens and Relish on Main in Mawson Lakes are options if you are travelling through those areas.

Who it suits. Owners of well-behaved dogs wanting a quiet, traditional B&B where the dog is part of the stay, and campers who want powered or unpowered sites with water access. Not suited to dogs that cannot remain controlled around livestock and horses.

When to go. Autumn and spring give the best weather for using the courtyard and exploring nearby river trails. Summer is fine if your dog handles heat, but plan walks for early morning. Good for a quiet, low-key getaway with a well-mannered dog.
