Dogs stay under the hotel's Pet Getaway Package, with harbour views, a rooftop pool and a quiet village setting about 15 to 20 minutes from the CBD.

Dogs at the InterContinental

The Pet Getaway Package must be booked in advance, at least 72 hours ahead, with a supplement of $169 per dog per night and a 72-hour cancellation policy. It includes a prepared pet-friendly room, a luxury dog bed, food and water bowls, an in-room dining menu for dogs and a breakfast picnic for the courtyard or the village. Registered assistance dogs stay free outside the package terms. Dogs are not permitted in the indoor dining venues or the rooftop pool area, and must not be left unattended in the room.

Max: book the pet package directly with the hotel rather than a generic room, and confirm the supplement and any size limits when you do. Turning up with a dog on a standard booking is not the same thing.

The vibe

This is polished five-star service in a tree-lined village rather than city-centre bustle. The rooftop pool and bar are human-only, but the surrounding streets of Double Bay are pedestrian-friendly and loaded with cafes, several of which take dogs at outdoor tables. It suits a special-occasion stay with a well-mannered dog rather than a working trip.

Getting there

The hotel sits on Cross Street in Double Bay, reachable by car over the Eastern Distributor or by ferry to the Double Bay wharf followed by a short walk. Undercover valet parking is available for a fee, and arriving with a dog is easiest by private or pet-friendly transport.
