Coro Park

Coro Park is an off-grid campground on a working farm at Howatharra, about 30 to 35 minutes north of Geraldton, with large sheltered bays close to Coronation Beach. Dogs are welcome throughout, on a lead, and the draw is privacy: bush-screened sites set well apart rather than rows of vans side by side.

Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times, because the property runs livestock. They stay with you at your campsite, and there is no off-lead roaming anywhere on the farm. Pet fees are not published, so confirm at booking. Bring your dog's own drinking water too, since none is supplied for pets and you need to be fully self-contained anyway.

The setup

This is genuinely self-sufficient camping: you need your own chemical toilet and drinking water, as there are no ablutions on site. Fire pits are provided and firewood is sold at the office. Sites are large gravel bays screened by bush, and reviews highlight the sunsets, the wind protection and the roomy layout. If the coastal wind is up, ask for one of the sheltered bays; your firepit time will be calmer for it.

Getting there and parking

Bitumen runs right to the front gate off Coronation Beach Road, and parking is free at your site. The bays suit everything from a small van to a big RV.

While you're out there

Coronation Beach is on the doorstep for on-lead walks, and the council-run Coronation Beach campground next door is the first-come alternative if Coro Park is full.
