Woodstone Cottages

Woodstone Cottages is a collection of self-contained cottages on 27 Bronzewing Road, Dunsborough, set in old-growth native bushland at Quedjinup with kangaroos grazing the grounds most mornings and evenings. Four cottages take dogs: Goanna, Grasstree, Possum and Kookaburra. It is a three-minute drive into Dunsborough town and the beach, so you get a quiet bush block without giving up the coast.

Dogs at Woodstone Cottages

Dogs stay in the designated pet-friendly cottages only, so name Goanna, Grasstree, Possum or Kookaburra when you book and get approval first. There is a strict limit of two dogs per cottage, and a pet fee of $35 per night applies. House rules are explicit: dogs stay off the furniture and out of the bedrooms, they are never left unattended in the cottage, and you clean up after them, with a $200 cleaning fee if you do not. Bring your dog's own bedding and bowls.

Max: the kangaroos are the whole reason to book and the biggest risk to your dog. Keep the lead on around the grounds and the wildlife stays a highlight instead of a chase.

The place

The cottages range from couples' size up to larger group layouts, with fireplaces, BBQs and views over the dam. Reviews repeatedly land on the same notes: quiet, clean, and the regular wildlife traffic around the property. This is a stay where the on-property wanders and the view are the point, not a base you dash out of every morning.

Getting there and close by

Bronzewing Road runs off Caves Road in the Quedjinup end of Dunsborough, with parking at your cottage. Town, the foreshore and the dog beach are a short drive away. In town, Evviva Cafe and Breakky & Brew are both used to dogs at the outdoor tables, and Occy's covers a dog-friendly dinner run.
