Tondio Terrace

Tondio Terrace is a small block of ground-floor holiday flats at 239 Boundary Street on the corner of Ward Street, Coolangatta, roughly two hundred metres from Rainbow Bay. It is managed locally by RBR Holidays (Rainbow Holidays) from their office at Shop 1, 11 Ward Street, and only some of the flats take dogs, so the pet-friendly fit depends entirely on which unit you book.

The pet-friendly units are the ground-floor budget flats, with individual listings naming pet-friendly options such as Flat 4 and Flat 5. Not every flat in the block accepts animals, and the manager's terms are explicit about the consequences of getting it wrong: bringing a pet into a non-pet-friendly unit or an unapproved booking puts the cost of professional cleaning on the guest. Request and receive approval for your dog as part of the booking process, and book the specific pet-friendly flat by name.

On cost, the RBR Holidays terms and conditions list a pet fee of $15 per day for approved bookings. Dogs are kept on a lead in the communal areas of the block, and the flats themselves are neat, tidy and straightforward: a self-contained base with wifi, reviewed mainly for its location and price rather than frills. Best suited to one small, settled dog rather than a big or high-energy pair.

Worth knowing

Coolangatta's main beach is a dog-prohibited area under City of Gold Coast rules, and there is no off-leash dog beach in Coolangatta or across the Tweed border, so plan on-lead exercise: the sand at Rainbow Bay early and the headland paths for the rest. Check current off-leash signage before letting a dog off anywhere.

While you're out there

The Point Danger Lookout to Currumbin Alley walk is the signature on-lead stretch from the doorstep, and Switchfoot Cafe Coolangatta is the coffee stop. Kirra Beach Tourist Park is the other pet-friendly stay in the same suburb if the flats are booked out.
