Sandy Bay Holiday Park

Sandy Bay Holiday Park sits right on Geographe Bay at Broadwater, between Busselton and Dunsborough, and it treats dogs as a category of guest rather than an afterthought. Dogs are welcome on powered caravan and camp sites and in a set of designated pet-friendly chalets, with a long stretch of dog-friendly beach directly outside the park gate.

Flag your dog at the time of booking and get management approval before you arrive; the park recommends calling 08 9752 2003 to lock in a pet-friendly site or one of the small number of designated pet chalets. A pet fee applies, roughly $25 per booking in the chalets or per dog on sites depending on current rates, and capacity limits are real, so a pet-friendly spot is not guaranteed without a call. Pets are not accepted during peak periods, Easter, long weekends or school holidays, so plan for shoulder season and midweek. On park grounds dogs stay on a lead and out of the amenities, barbecue areas and playground; inside the chalets they stay off sofas, beds and carpeted areas.

Pepsi: the beach outside the gate is the whole reason to book here. Salt walk at sunrise, wood fire going by dark, and nobody has to drive anywhere.

The vibe

The park mixes shady and sunny powered sites for rigs up to about 6.7 metres with rammed-earth chalets that have wood fires, and reviews rate it highly at 4.6 across nearly three hundred stays. Possums visit the trees at night, the camp kitchen is well used, and the beach access is what guests mention most.

Getting there and parking

The park is on the Bussell Highway corridor at Broadwater, an easy turn-off for caravans coming from either Busselton or Dunsborough, with parking at your site. Busselton's town centre and jetty are about ten minutes north and the Margaret River wine region starts just south.

While you're out there

Ridgemill Estate is a cellar door practically on the doorstep for a dog-friendly tasting run, and POPPY & PIP CAFE is a popular Busselton coffee stop. If the pet chalets are booked out, Busselton Villas & Glamping Village is another pet-friendly base in the same bay.
