Riverside Tourist Park

Riverside Tourist Park sits on the banks of the Fitzroy River at Reaney Street in Berserker, a quiet, budget caravan park a few minutes from central Rockhampton. Dogs are welcome, but this is a plan-ahead stay: you need management's approval before you arrive, and the conditions are spelled out in the park's own terms.

You cannot book online with a dog in tow. Call the park directly to apply for approval, and be aware management can impose special conditions, date restrictions or a security deposit. Once approved, dogs stay on the powered and unpowered sites, which are tropical, shaded and grassy, many close to the river walk. The lead rule is two metres or under at all times outside your van or tent, and dogs are strictly barred from common areas including the pool, playground, camp kitchen, amenity blocks and reception. You are responsible for cleaning up and sealing the bags, and washing pet gear in the park laundry is off limits. Cabin eligibility is inconsistent across sources, so settle that on the phone.

Worth knowing

Do not leave a dog unattended in a tent or van, and expect the rules to be enforced rather than loosely applied. The trade-off for the paperwork is a genuinely quiet riverside location with paved access for caravans and motorhomes, free on-site parking, and local shops within easy reach.

The park is on Reaney Street in Berserker, North Rockhampton, close to the city centre. Access is straightforward for caravans and motorhomes, and parking is included on site.

Close by with the dogs

Berserker Leash Free Dog Park is about a kilometre away for a proper off-leash run, and Cousins On William covers the coffee stop. If Riverside is booked out, Southside Holiday Village runs dedicated pet-friendly cabins on the other side of town.
