Snapper & Co. is a casual fish and chip diner at the Canberra Southern Cross Yacht Club precinct in Yarralumla, with lake views over Lake Burley Griffin and two named outdoor areas, the Courtyard and the Lawns, that are set up to take dogs.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome in the Courtyard, closer to the bar and ordering counter, and on the Lawns, the more open grassy area further out. Indoor ordering space is for people only. Bring your own treats, water bowls are generally out for dogs, and a lead is expected given how busy the outdoor areas get with other diners.

Good to know. The draw here is the lakeside setting as much as the food, fish and chips, burgers, gelato and drinks with a wide, uninterrupted view of Lake Burley Griffin. It runs casual and family-friendly rather than fine dining.

Getting there. Snapper & Co. is at Mariner Place, Yarralumla, inside the Yacht Club precinct. There is a large car park on site, though parking validation may not cover spots outside the main gates, worth checking on arrival. It's also an easy walk or ride along the lakefront path from elsewhere in Yarralumla.

Nearby with the dogs. The lakeside walking path runs right past the front door, good for a stretch before or after eating. Yarralumla Dog Park on Banks Street and the open lawns of Weston Park are both a short drive away.

Go for a Lawns table on a weekday afternoon if you want space and quiet; weekend lunch service by the water gets busy fast.
