BAR DECO

BAR DECO brings a slice of Europe to Yandina, a bar and restaurant on the corner of Stevens and Railway Streets pouring Belgian beers and wine alongside modern European plates: mussels, duck pate, rack of lamb and a serious dessert cabinet. Dogs are not allowed indoors, but the outdoor areas are open to them in almost any weather.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the partly covered beer garden at the front and the fully covered deck at the back, so rain rarely forces a change of plan. Staff are dog-friendly and will usually bring a water bowl on request. Tuck your dog under the table or keep a short lead beside your chair; the back deck is the calmer of the two spaces.

Pepsi: Ask for the covered deck. It is quieter than the front garden and I can actually settle while the humans work through the mussel pot.

Worth knowing

The kitchen trades Thursday from 5pm to 9pm, then Friday to Sunday from 11am to 9pm with the kitchen open all day. Monday to Wednesday it is closed, so plan the dog-friendly lunch for a weekend. The menu leans European, from arancini and prawn linguine to beef stew, with the Belgian beer list doing exactly what the name promises.

Getting there and parking

Free street parking wraps the corner, and the large public car park at Yandina railway station sits directly across the road, which also makes the venue reachable by train from Nambour and the coast.

Close by with the dogs

The Saturday Yandina Country Markets are a short stroll for a leashed dog, and the fenced Yandina dog park is minutes away if yours needs to burn energy first. Gun Cotton Coffee Roasters covers the daytime coffee end of town.
