Cafe Evviva at 166-188 Franklin Street is a long-standing Italian-inspired cafe in the Traralgon Centre Plaza, and dogs are welcome at its alfresco tables. The street-facing alfresco side is the part to head for if you have your dog along.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcomed in the outdoor alfresco area, reached easily from the street side of the plaza rather than through the centre. Staff are accommodating and will often bring out water. Bring your own bowl as backup.

Good to know. Expect Italian standards, arancini, pizza, pasta and generous serves, plus good coffee and a casual, bustling feel. It runs long hours, which makes it flexible for brunch, lunch or an early dinner.

Getting there. The cafe sits within the Traralgon Centre Plaza with free parking in the surrounding plaza lots, central and walkable from town.

Nearby with the dogs. Newman Park is only a couple of hundred metres away for an on-lead walk, and the Franklin Street strip is pleasant for a wander before or after.

When to go. The alfresco tables are limited, so weekday or off-peak visits give you the best shot at a spot with room for your dog. Confirm the outdoor seating is open when you arrive.
