The Sandbar Scarborough Beach

The Sandbar sits right on the sand at 1 Scarborough Beach Road, with outdoor and streetside tables that look straight down the beach, and dogs are welcome in those outdoor areas. It is the classic post-swim beachfront setup: casual bistro food, a serious cocktail list and the kind of ocean view that makes you stretch lunch into the afternoon.

The dog setup

Your dog joins you outside, where the seating runs along the beachfront edge and the crowd is firmly in holiday mode. Beach traffic keeps the pavement busy, so tuck your dog under or beside your table rather than at the end of a long lead.

Booking policy matters here: the venue runs largely on walk-ins, and the outdoor tables with the best views go early on sunny weekends. If you arrive mid-morning or mid-afternoon you will usually walk straight in, but prime lunch and sunset slots can mean a short wait.

Max: beachfront decks plus a full sun and wind exposure means I carry a bowl and water anyway, and I seat my dog on the shaded side before I even sit down.

Worth knowing

There is live music and a rolling events calendar, so some afternoons are louder than a nervous dog will enjoy; check the What's On page if your dog prefers calm. The venue's cocktail credentials are a genuine draw, with its house pour taking out WA's best cocktail awards two years running, but there is plenty beyond the bar menu.

Getting there

The Sandbar is on the Scarborough Beach foreshore about 15 minutes north of Perth CBD, with paid parking around the beachfront and the Esplanade. The easiest dog-friendly approach is a walk along the foreshore path from the free side streets before you hit the paid zones.
