The Local Flynn's Beach

The Local Flynn's Beach is the beachside bistro and pub at 31 Pacific Drive, directly across from Flynns Beach, and locals make it a genuine dog regular's spot. The kitchen runs bistro pub fare from lamb cutlets and chicken schnitzel to house-made pizzas and wings, with live music on the calendar, and dogs settle in the outdoor seating along the cafe frontage.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables along the footpath and frontage, where they sit right beside you, and water bowls are often put out. Carrying your own is still sensible on busy days. Inside stays human-only under the standard NSW food premises rules. The frontage is flat and easy to reach from the street, and a sociable dog that likes watching the parade of beachgoers will be at home here.

Worth knowing

This is a proper pub kitchen rather than a light-lunch cafe, so portions run large and it doubles as a dinner venue. Hours split across the week: 3pm to 9pm Monday to Wednesday, then 11:30am to late Thursday through Sunday, so mornings midweek are not an option. Book the outdoor side for weekends and check the gig schedule, because a live-music night changes the noise level a dog will tolerate.

Getting there and parking

Pacific Drive links the beachside suburbs to town, with street parking out the front that fills fast through summer and school holidays. It is an easy walk from the Flynns Beach accommodation strip. One thing to plan around: Flynns Beach itself is prohibited to dogs at all times under Port Macquarie-Hastings Council rules, along with Town and Shelly beaches, so the beach walk happens on the way, not on the sand.

For off-lead time, Nobbys Beach is the dedicated off-leash sand option near town, and Stuart Park Fenced Dog Park gives the enclosed run. Maisie's Cafe is the coffee option for the next morning.
