Pipeworks Cafe

Pipeworks Cafe fills the big, leafy outdoor space at Bay Park Plaza, 4 Bay Street in Port Macquarie, and it has become one of the town's default dog breakfasts for a simple reason: the outdoor section is genuinely large, with shade and greenery, so a big dog can settle out of the walking paths instead of being parked between chair legs. It runs as an all-day breakfast-and-lunch house, closing mid-afternoon.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome across the outdoor seating area, and staff are the kind who bring a water bowl on request and, going by the regulars, sometimes slip the resident dog a little extra. Keep your dog in the outdoor section, since the indoor dining room is off limits under the standard food rules. The space is fully serviced, so you are not exiled from table service by bringing the dog.

The menu

Breakfast does the heavy lifting: the brekky corn fritter with tomato relish, feta, bacon and a poached egg is the plate people name, alongside a full Pipeworks Breakfast, the bacon and egg Turkish roll and eggs benedict with salmon, with gluten-free bread available. Lunch turns to woodfired pizza and dishes like garlic prawns, and the coffee holds up its end with tidy latte art. Portions run generous, which matters when you are paying cafe prices for two humans and a professional beggar.

Getting there and parking

Bay Street runs just off the town centre toward the coast, and the car park behind the cafe inside Bay Park Plaza is the practical reason this works with a dog: no on-street hunting, straight from the car to the outdoor tables. Doors open from 7am Tuesday to Saturday and 7:30am Sunday, with Monday closed, and weekday mornings are the calm window before the weekend queue builds.

Make a day of it

The Nobbys Beach sand is a short drive away for an off-leash session before or after breakfast, and the Stuart Park Fenced Dog Park covers the secure-run option. For a second coffee with the dog in town, Bloom PMQ keeps an outdoor table of its own.
