VDR is a casual Vietnamese banh mi shop on Edward Street, just off The Parade in Norwood. It is quick-service and takeaway-friendly, and it openly welcomes dogs at the outdoor tables, which makes it an easy lunch stop rather than a sit-down destination.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome outside, with footpath seating on Edward Street. There is no dog menu, but staff are happy to have well-behaved dogs at the outdoor tables. Bring your own water bowl, since none is advertised as standard. This is a grab-a-roll-and-go setup as much as a sit-down one.

Good to know. The draw is fresh banh mi with crispy bread and generous fillings, with roast pork and the combination roll the standouts, plus rice and noodle bowls. Portions are large and good value, and it is one of the few spots in Adelaide doing a solid gluten-free banh mi.

Getting there. Free street parking is usually available on Edward Street and nearby side streets. Buses run along The Parade a short walk away if you would rather not drive.

When to go. Grab a roll off-peak and eat it outside, or take it to walk. The Parade and Norwood Oval are both close for a stroll afterwards. Good for a quick, low-key stop with a dog that is happy to wait while you order.
