The Green Galley

The Green Galley is a casual plant-based cafe at Shop 1, 1 Marina Drive, right on the Coffs Harbour Marina, cooking vegan burgers, wraps and toasties with the ocean a few steps away. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables, which makes it the easy food stop in the middle of a marina or jetty-precinct walk with the dog.

The dog setup

Dogs go in the outdoor seating, which is partly covered for sun, and staff happily seat well-behaved dogs out there; mention you have one on arrival so you are directed to the right tables. It fills on sunny weekends along the marina walk, so coming slightly early gets you the pick of the spots. Bring a travel bowl as backup, though staff are known to put water out, and keep the lead clipped while the marina foot traffic passes.

Worth knowing

The menu is mainly vegan and vegetarian: old-school style plant burgers, falafel wraps, pesto toasties, fresh cookies and gluten-free options, with proper coffee and plant milks including macadamia, plus smoothies for the post-walk drink. The marina position is the real draw, with boats sliding past the outdoor tables. Service runs from 6:30am, wrapping at 2pm on weekdays and 2:30pm on weekends, so breakfast and lunch only, seven days.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits in the Coffs Harbour International Marina on Marina Drive, with the marina car park adjacent, and it is an easy stroll from the jetty strip. The walk from the carpark to the outdoor tables is short and flat.

While you're out there

Know the local rules before you plan the walk: Jetty Beach itself is a no-dog beach, and Muttonbird Island Nature Reserve bans pets entirely, even on lead. The off-lead sand is at Coffs Harbour Dog Off Lead Beach near the North Wall, south of Coffs Creek. For other dog-friendly stops in the precinct, Hub Cafe Jetty is close by and Jetty Beach House is the bigger sit-down option.

Pepsi: the North Wall off-lead beach is the warm-up and the marina table is the cooldown, but Muttonbird Island is a no-dog zone, so skip it.
