Eight Bites

Eight Bites is a casual all-day spot at Unit 3/5 Shenton Road in Claremont, and it wears two hats: specialty coffee and loaded panini through the morning, then smash burgers, pork bites and wings in the evening. Dogs are explicitly welcome on lead in the street-facing outdoor seating, which makes it a straightforward stop whether you are on the morning walk or the dinner run.

The dog setup

The outdoor area facing Shenton Road is where dogs are permitted, on a lead, and the kerbside tables give a settled dog room without blocking the footpath. Staff generally bring water on request, though carrying your own bowl pays off on busy weekends. With weekend DJs in the mix, the evening service is the louder slot, so a morning visit suits a noise-shy dog better.

The menu

Mornings run 6am from Monday to Saturday (7am Sunday), with panini served until about 2pm: the Rocket N' Roll Uber stacks mortadella, pistachio cream cheese, burrata and rocket, and the Porchetta Royale does what it says. The smash burger lineup includes the U-Wicked 8 and the Hot Momma, with loaded fries alongside, and specialty coffee and matcha all day. An evening service runs Wednesday to Saturday from 5pm and Sunday from 5pm, which is when the burgers and wings take over.

Getting there

Shenton Road runs through the heart of Claremont, a short walk from Claremont station. Free street parking is available on the surrounding streets and there is a parking garage nearby, so it is an easy stop for west-suburb visitors.

Close by with the dogs

For a proper walk, the Lake Claremont dog agility area is a few minutes away with off-lead space around the lake, and El Cabro Coffee up the road covers the pre-walk coffee. Further afield, Kilo Cafe at Swanbourne sits near the coastal paths.
