Beachfront Bar and Restaurant

Beachfront Bar and Restaurant sits on the sand at 35 Bucasia Esplanade on Mackay's northern beaches, a casual bar and eatery built around wood-fired pizzas, salt and pepper calamari, burgers and beachside cocktails. It trades Thursday and Friday from 7:30am to 9pm and Saturday and Sunday from 7am to 9pm, closed Monday to Wednesday, and it faces Bucasia Beach directly, which turns a meal here into a proper dog day out.

The dog setup

Leashed dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating and grassed area out the front, not indoors, and locals bring dogs here as a matter of routine. Staff will sometimes bring a water bowl out, but it is not guaranteed on a busy service, so carry your own. The outdoor space is first come, first served, and the whole area fills on weekends and around sunset, so arrive early for a table with room for a dog to lie down. Keep expectations calibrated at peak times: a packed Saturday evening is a busier, tighter dog environment than a weekday lunch.

Street parking runs along Bucasia Esplanade, and it fills quickly on fine weekend evenings. Bucasia Beachfront Caravan Resort is a short walk along the sand if you are staying overnight.

The section of Bucasia Beach out front runs time-restricted off-leash between Williams Avenue and Symons Avenue, 5am to 8am and 5pm to 8pm daily, with leash rules applying outside those windows; pair an early dinner sitting with the evening off-leash session.
