What visitors mention

off leash dog beachbeach

Seaview Park is Bucasia's off-leash dog beach, a wide stretch of sand at the end of Williams Avenue with a grassy park running alongside it. The one fact that matters before you go: off-leash hours are strictly 5am-8am and 5pm-8pm, so time your visit or your dog stays on the lead.

The rules. Off-leash access only applies within the signed boundary between Williams Avenue and Symons Avenue, and only during the 5am-8am and 5pm-8pm windows. Outside those hours, dogs must be leashed. Even off-leash, dogs need to be under effective voice control, and aggressive behaviour or excessive barking isn't tolerated. Bring your own poop bags. On-site bins exist but bag supply at the beach itself is not reliable.

The water and terrain. The beach is flat and sandy, with plenty of room at low tide for dogs of any size to paddle or swim. It's sheltered enough to be a genuinely relaxed swim spot rather than a surf beach, which suits nervous swimmers and older dogs.

What's there. A walking track runs beside the grassy park, and there are bins on-site. Water taps are unreliable, so bring your own water and a bowl.

Getting there. Seaview Park is at the end of Williams Avenue, Bucasia, roughly 20-25 minutes north of Mackay CBD by car. Free street parking runs along Williams Avenue. Local Mackay buses reach nearby areas but driving is the practical option.

Nearby with the dogs. Beachfront Bar and Restaurant is an easy walk or short drive along the esplanade and welcomes leashed dogs in its outdoor grassed area. Bucasia Beachfront Caravan Resort sits right on the beach if you're staying overnight with your dog.

Check the boundary signage before letting your dog off lead. The off-leash zone is specific to the stretch between Williams and Symons Avenues, not the whole beach.

Best visited right on opening or closing of the off-leash window, when the beach is quieter and the day hasn't heated up. Good for confident swimmers and nervous ones alike, given the sheltered, flat water.
