Fitzy's Toowoomba

Fitzy's is the big, long-standing hotel at 153 Margaret Street in the middle of Toowoomba City, running pub dining, a craft beer bar and gaming from 10am daily. For dogs, the place to be is the rear beer garden, and the catch is the door you use to get there.

The dog setup

Well-behaved dogs are welcome in the outdoor beer garden and courtyard at the rear, with the hotel's own FAQs asking for quieter trade periods and visits wrapped up before 10pm. Dogs are not permitted inside, and the entrance is the rear Church Street door rather than the main Margaret Street ones.

Pets stay home on event days and when functions are booked, owners carry full responsibility for mess and behaviour, and certified assistance dogs are the exception across all areas. Water bowls are often out, but bring your own to be sure.

The vibe

The kitchen turns out modern pub food, steaks, schnitzels and gnocchi, with a wide craft beer list, a whiskey bar and cocktails. Live music and screens make it lively, so a settled dog copes better than an anxious one.

Getting there

It is central on Margaret Street with on-site parking plus paid street parking on Margaret and Church Streets, and the rear entrance is best reached from the Church Street side.

Max: check the events calendar before you head in with the dog. A quiet weekday dinner in the courtyard is a different experience to a live-music night at the same tables.

While you're out there

Queens Park's wide lawns and on-lead paths sit a few blocks away for a walk either side of a meal, and the hilltop Table Top lookout is a short drive south for a proper leg stretch.
