Matso's Sunshine Coast

Matso's Sunshine Coast is the Broome brewery's outpost at 85 Memorial Drive, Eumundi, bringing the famous ginger beers to a big beer garden a street back from the famous markets. Local Facebook groups and Sunshine Coast listings report dogs welcome across the outdoor beer garden areas, with treats often offered, and the garden-scale setup means a dog has actual room rather than a footpath strip.

The dog setup

The beer garden is the whole proposition: shaded outdoor tables, room for a dog to lie flat under the table without blocking anyone, and staff reported to come around with treats. Because it is a garden rather than a laneway, the usual stress points of pub-dogging, tight chair gaps and passing prams, mostly disappear. Water is available on request, and the laid-back Saturday-afternoon crowd means a social dog fits right in.

Worth knowing

The drinks list is the reason to come: the ginger beer in its original, mango and chilli lime forms, a tasting paddle for the indecisive, and lobster rolls from the kitchen. Doors open from 10am daily, which makes an early lunch workable before the market crowd arrives. Pool tables inside give the non-dog-walkers something to do while the dog claims the shade.

Memorial Drive parking is free but heavily contested on market weekends, when Eumundi's population briefly triples. The standard move is to park early, do the markets with the dog on lead through the outer stalls, and land at the beer garden as the morning heat builds. The venue is walkable from everywhere in town.
