BrewDog Pentridge

BrewDog Pentridge is a large craft beer bar built into the historic former Pentridge Prison site in Coburg. The reason it works for owners is the size of the outdoor area: a big beer garden with plenty of room for a dog to settle under the table while you work through the taps.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome in the large outdoor beer garden and courtyard, not in the main indoor dining room. There is plenty of bench seating and space, so it stays comfortable even when busy. Staff are known to bring out water bowls, though bring your own on a hot day.

Good to know. The draw is an extensive tap list of BrewDog beers plus local Victorian guests, backed by a full pub menu of burgers, wings and pizza. It runs regular events, so a quiet pint can turn into a crowd.

Getting there. At 1 Pentridge Boulevard, Coburg. Paid parking is available within the Pentridge precinct, with street parking on surrounding streets. It is a short walk from the Route 19 tram on Sydney Road and close to Coburg Station on the Upfield line.

Nearby with the dog. The Pentridge grounds themselves are pedestrian-friendly for a wander, and Coburg Lake Reserve is a few minutes away for a proper walk.

When to go. Weekday afternoons and early evenings are the calmest for a dog. Weekends and event nights get loud and packed, which is a lot for a nervous dog.
