Hamptons City Beach

Hamptons City Beach is the Hamptons-styled restaurant and bar on Challenger Parade with an outdoor deck looking straight out over the Indian Ocean, a short drive west of the Perth CBD. Friendly dogs are welcome on the deck, so a sunset dinner here can come with a dog asleep under the table and the sun going down behind it.

The dog setup

Dogs are allowed on the outdoor deck only, not inside the restaurant, and stay on lead beside your table. Staff are good with dogs and will bring a water bowl out on request, though there is no dedicated dog menu, so bring anything beyond water yourself. This is smart-casual sit-down dining rather than a quick counter stop, so it suits a dog that settles for the length of a meal; weekday afternoons are the calm window, while weekend sunset sittings fill and deserve a booking.

The food and drink

The seasonal menu leans on seafood: fresh oysters, lemon pepper baby squid, barramundi, seafood pasta, chilli mussels with toasted Turkish bread and classic fish and chips, with scallops in Vadouvan curry and sweet corn and Manchego croquettes among the other favourites, plus a full bar of craft beers, boutique wines and coastal cocktails. It opens 7am to 10pm Wednesday to Sunday and is closed Monday and Tuesday, with the early opening covering coffee and breakfast off the beach.

Getting there and parking

The address is 179 Challenger Parade, City Beach, with free off-street parking lots and street parking around the beachfront precinct. It is usually easy, but the car parks fill quickly on sunny summer days and weekend sunset hours, so arriving early or booking a table sorts both the park and the deck.

Close by with the dogs

The City Beach boardwalk runs right past the front door for an on-lead walk either side of the meal, and Floreat Dog Beach just north is the off-leash run if your dog needs to burn energy before sitting still. The Zamia Trail through the dune bushland adds a longer loop option in the same coastal strip.
