Mullum Mullum Reserve Dog On Leash Area

Mullum Mullum Reserve at 58-60 Mullum Mullum Road, Ringwood, is a large community reserve with two sporting ovals, a pavilion, a playground and gravel trails that follow Mullum Mullum Creek. The dog-relevant point: the developed central areas are on-leash, so this is a lead walk through suburbia, not an off-leash run.

The dog setup

Keep your dog on lead through the central reserve, on the shared paths, and within 15 metres of any playground, barbecue or sports event. Some adjoining sections of the Mullum Mullum Creek linear park allow off-leash walking under effective control, but the boundaries change along the trail, so read the signage at each section before unclipping. Dogs are not permitted in signed biodiversity or habitat zones. Bins and bags are provided and cleaning up is mandatory.

Worth knowing

There is a modern pavilion, public toilets, a fenced playground and bench seating around the ovals and trails, and the gravel paths link into the wider Mullum Mullum Creek Trail for a much longer walk through native bushland. Quietest on weekday early mornings and late evenings; Sunday and Thursday evenings fill up with community sport, so head for the further creek-trail stretches away from the pavilion for more room.

Max: treat this one as the start of a creek walk rather than a run-around. The leash stays on, but the trail stretches for kilometres.

Getting there and parking

The reserve sits on Mullum Mullum Road near the EastLink exit, with two on-site car parks including accessible bays. Bus routes run along Wonga Road and nearby streets within walking distance.
