Nulkaba Playground on Branxton Street is a small neighbourhood park, not a walking track. It works for a short on-lead wander on the grass on a quiet street in this Hunter village.
Lead rules
Cessnock City Council allows dogs here on a lead. Under the NSW rules dogs must stay more than 10 metres from the children's play equipment, so keep to the open grass well clear of it.
What's there
Expect mown grass, a few trees and the play equipment, with softfall around it. The ground is flat and easy, which makes it a calm spot for a young or reactive dog to practise walking nicely.
Max: If the playground is busy, give it a wide berth and circle the quieter edge of the park instead.
Bring water and bags, and plan it as a short stop rather than the day's main walk.
