Mackay Off Lead Fenced Dog Park

Mackay Off Lead Fenced Dog Park is the fully fenced off-leash area on Willis Street in North Mackay, formally listed by Mackay Regional Council as the Police Dog Tunza Dog Park and known locally as Gooseponds Dog Park after the wetland parklands it borders.

The rules. Dogs may run off-leash inside the fenced boundary but must be under effective voice control and back on lead once you leave the fenced area for the surrounding trails. Bring your own waste bags, as council supply is not guaranteed, and keep dogs registered and vaccinated.

What's there. Secure double-gate fencing, dog and owner drinking fountains, shaded trees, bench seating, and agility equipment. Free on-site parking sits right on Willis Street.

Getting there. Access is easiest from the Bruce Highway via Glenpark Street or Sams Road. The nearest bus stops are on Mackay-Bucasia Road; a car is the more practical option.

Weekday mornings from 6am to 8am and late afternoons from 4:30pm to 6:30pm are the busiest windows, with weekends busy most of the morning. Visit mid-morning or mid-afternoon on a weekday if your dog needs a quieter session.
